Dollie Washington Ms. Faust was born in Denmark, S.C. to Ms. Rose Hayes of New Jersey and was raised in the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Lula Mae) Faust. She received her grammar and high school education from Denmark-Olar School District Two. She continued her education at Voorhees College in Denmark, SC and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. With a strong commitment for her hometown and church, Judy chose to work in the school system of Denmark-Olar School District Two until her health would not allow her to continue any longer. For more than 25 years, she served her employer admirably in several capacities. When she retired, she was working in the position of Supervisor of Food Services for the District. Judy found time to work in the church as well as her community. She was the graduate advisor for the Eta Nu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated (Voorhees College) for 15 years. She was very proud of her Silver Star member status of her sorority, meaning she had been a member for at least 25 years. She was also a Founding member of the popular Denmark Inspirational Choir. Other accolades that were dear to Judy's heart included being named "Soror of the Year" by Nu Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha in 2005 and receiving a District Service Award from Denmark-Olar District Two in 2010. Judy was a faithful servant at Capernaum Missionary Baptist Church. One of her favorite church activities was leading the CMBC Inspirational Choir as the director, a choir that she was also a Founding member. When she could no longer serve in that capacity, she would continue to participate from the pews, especially during annual choir anniversaries. She was lovingly given the honorable title of "Mother" of the Inspirational Choir. Because Judy's professional background was in foodservice, naturally she was drafted and willingly used her talents to serve on the Kitchen Committee of the Church. Even when Judy could no longer come to church, she would do whatever she could do from home to do her part for her committee. Judy is preceded in death by one brother, Mr. Earl Hayes and her grandparents. Judy, is survived by one devoted and loving daughter, Ms. Dynisha Faust, of Charlotte, NC; her mother, Ms. Rose Hayes; three siblings, Ms. Phyllis Rowan, Ms. Cynthia Hayes and Mr. Eric (Cheryl) Hayes; two aunts, Ms. Mildred Faust of MS, Ms. Idella Parler of Wibraham, MA, and an uncle, Mr. Johnny Faust of Denmark, SC. Judy, will also be remembered by many nephews, nieces, godchildren, caregivers, companions, church members and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Thursday, July 30th from 12:00 noon- 8:00 pm. The Ivy Beyond The Wall Ceremony conducted by members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will begin at 7:08 at the funeral home.
