Funeral services for Julia Ann Summers Brown Nettles will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Thankful Baptist Church located in Bamberg, South Carolina. Mrs. Nettles will be placed in the church one hour before the services. Interment services will follow immediately at Capernaum Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Denmark, South Carolina. Rev. Dr. Carl E. Williams, Sr., Apostle Calvin D. Wright, Rev. Arthur Brabham, and Rev. Isaac Inabinet will officiate. On June 24, 2012, the Lord called to rest his daughter, Julia Ann Summers Brown Nettles, who was born on September 14, 1958 and one of three children to the late Lillian Ann Summers and Nelson Walker of Bamberg, South Carolina. An an early age, she gave her life to Christ and joined Capernaum Baptist Church in Denmark, South Carolina. She later became a member of First Peter Baptist Church located in Bamberg, South Carolina and served faithfully on the Usher Board. Julia Ann was educated in the public schools in Bamberg, South Carolina and received an Associates Degree in culinary arts from Denmark Technical College in Denmark, South Carolina. She worked as an culinary artist for many years. Julia Ann is preceded in death by her son, Samuel Mandrell Summers and a sibling, Bernard Summers. Julia Ann leaves to celebrate her life her loving children, Cynthia (D'Andre) Jordan of Bamberg, SC, Samuel Lee (Shawanda) Summers, III of Sumter, SC, Dwayne Brown, Jr. and Chavonn Melicia Brown both of Denmark, SC; six grandchildren, Alaric Cann, Cordei Peeples, both of Bamberg, SC, Arianna and Jaiden Johnson both of Sumter, SC, Zamaria Brimfield of Norway, SC and Infinity Brown of Denmark, SC; one brother, Jeffrey (Tonia) Summers of Bamberg, SC; aunts, Dorothy Robinson and Eva Mae Walker of Bamberg, SC, Geneva Lewis and Lula Odom of Brooklyn, NY; one great aunt, Florrie Mae Franklin of Cope, SC; uncles, Elliot Walker and Peter Nimmons of Bamberg, SC; a devoted cousin, Debbie Summers- Galloway of Cordova, SC; one godsister, Darlene Davis of Bamberg, SC; godchildren, Evelyn (Rickie) Samuel of Bamberg, SC and Shmeica Copeland of Bamberg, SC; a best friend, Carrie Moody of Bamberg, SC; and a host of loving, supportive and devoted nieces, cousins and friends.
