Kirk Douglas Hicks, Sr. was born on June 7, 1972, in Barnwell, South Carolina, to Douglas Ray and the late Carolyn D. Hicks. On Monday, April 14, 2025, Kirk answered the call of his Lord and Savior and entered into eternal rest.

Kirk was educated in Barnwell County and was a proud graduate of Blackville-Hilda High School, Class of 1990. He went on to pursue higher education at Nielsen Electronics in Charleston, SC, where he earned an Associate Degree in Electronics Technology in December 1992.

Kirk, at a young age, gave his life to Christ at Macedonia Baptist Church in Blackville, SC. On October 31, 2010, he joined Royal Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Isaac J. Holt, Jr. He previously served in the ministries of Youth Church and the Men's Choir.

Kirk had a successful career in electronic technology. He traveled extensively, installing air traffic control equipment, and held various roles throughout his career. He was long-term employed at Boeing South Carolina.  His last place of employment was with Scientific Research Corporation (SCR) until he became disabled.

Kirk was known for his warm personality - he never met a stranger. He loved his family, friends, and classmates. He had a deep and abiding love for his children and took great pride in their accomplishments, making time to support them at school and sporting events when he could. He was a true outdoorsman at heart and found peace and enjoyment in yard work.

Kirk was a loyal and passionate Dallas Cowboys fan that proudly supported his team through every season, win or lose. His favorite player was CeeDee Lamb #88 wide receiver, and he never missed a chance to cheer them on.

Kirk was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Carolyn D. Hicks; his sister, Lisa S. Hicks; maternal grandmother, Zelma Ephriam; paternal grandmother, Jessie Mae Ray; and maternal great-grandfather, Deacon Lovant Hicks.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Madison Georgia Hicks; son, Kirk Hicks, Jr.; brothers, Jeffery Hicks (Gloria), Travis Ray; sister, Tomeka Ray; goddaughter, Caitlin Minus; special nephew, Coby Hicks; great-aunts, Mary Perry and Gloria Hicks; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Kirk's legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
