Funeral services for the late Leon Staley, Jr. will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Bethel AME Church, Denmark, SC.  Interment services will follow immediately at Jericho Cemetery with full military honors.  Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon- 8:00 pm at the funeral home.


Mr. Leon "Rollie" Staley, Jr. son of the late Leon "Pete" Staley, Sr. and Rosebud Staley was born on September 30, 1941, in Denmark, South Carolina. He entered into a peaceful rest on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Lexington Medical Center of Lexington, South Carolina.

Leon was educated in the Bamberg County school system and later joined the United States Army. He served in cities within the United States, and Germany. The later and dominant portion of his career was in the construction business with Kinzy Staley and Sons, in which he eventually retired.

In August of 1979, Leon was united in marriage to his loving and devoted wife, Ora Bias Staley. This union was blessed with two daughters. They traveled throughout the United States during his career in construction and later settled down in Orangeburg, SC and lastly in Lexington, SC.  The couple brought life to family events and was a joy to be around. He referred to himself as her "Huckleberry" and she referred to him as her "Plus One".

Leon was a member of Bethel AME Church, Denmark, SC where he served on the male chorus. He loved to sing and was once a member of the "God's Choice "quartet. His favorite songs were "A Leaning Tree Ain't the First to Fall" and "There is Something About the Name of Jesus". He referred to himself as "A Legend in his own time".

He is survived by his devoted wife, Ora Staley of Lexington, SC; h is children, Rodney Staley of Denmark, SC; Terliski (Nicholas) Richberg-Dotson of Woodstock, GA; Tiffany (Asim) Shehzad of Philadelphia PA; Deon (Keith) Sanders-Kennedy of Gastonia, NC; Viola Staley of Lexington, SC; Stacy Lee of Rock Hill, SC; Tracy (Jerry) Proveaux of Cordova, SC; and Yorel Lee of Jacksonville, FL; his siblings, Jesse(Remella) Staley , Richard (Vickie) Staley, Leroy Staley all of Denmark, SC, and Gene and Janice Staley of Greenville, SC; a sister-in-law, Betty Staley of Columbia, SC;  fifteen grandchildren, one great grand and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
