Leon Kearse, the son of the late Lizzie Mae Kearse and the late Farrell Duncan, was born on January 26, 1944.  Our heavenly father called him to his heavenly home on October 15, 2020.

Leon was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.  He attended the public schools of Barnwell County and was a 1965 graduate of Macedonia School.  He met and married the love of his life, Lucille O. Kearse in July of 1966.  This union was blessed with two children.  Leon and Lucille also raised several family members as their own.

Leon worked at Ducane Heating Company for thirty-five years, as a line operator before retiring.  Leon was known as on of the best barbecue cooking men around town.  Cooking was only one of his greatest hobbies.  After retiring his plans were to go fishing with his wife, however that wasn't in God's plan. Leon became ill and his illness prevented him from living out some of his dreams.

Leon was preceded in death by his mother, father, one sister and two brothers.

Leon leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of fifty-four years, Lucille O. Kearse of Blackville, SC; two sons, Rodney Kearse and Michael Kearse both of Blackville, SC; four relatives raised as his own, Johnell (Gerald) German of Hardeville, SC, Betty Williams of Aiken, SC, Eula McFadden and Robert Kearse both of Blackville, SC; five sisters, Joann (Henry) Islar of Blackville, SC, Geraldine Williams of Orangeburg, SC, Emma Orr and Gretchen Duncan of Bamberg, SC and Patricia (Sammie) Mays of Blackville, SC; two brothers, Perry Duncan and Dennis Duncan of Columbia, SC; a brother-in-law, Otis (Cassie) Odom of Statesboro, GA; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Odom and Laura Smalls of Denmark, SC; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
