Mr. Leroy Washington, Jr., "Jerry", was the oldest son of the late Mr. Leroy and Mary Ella Washington, Sr.  Leroy was born September 4, 1960 in Bamberg, South Carolina.  He entered into eternal rest on October 20, 2023 at MUSC in Orangeburg, South Carolina surrounded by his beloved family.

Leroy "Jerry" Washington, Jr. was educated in Bamberg School District One.  He was a member of the class of 1980.

Leroy was one of the founders of The Baptist Hill Boys.

At an early age he gave his life to God.   He joined Eden Baptist Church and, during that time, he was a dedicated and devoted usher alongside his late aunt, Maggie Goodwin.  He loved his usher position.

After the passing of his father, Leroy Washington, Sr. on October 20, 1989, Leroy Jr. moved back home with his mother to help her with the raising of his four younger siblings, Shirl, Shelia, Anthony (Chris) and Pamela.  It brought him so much joy being their big brother "dad", and they loved him so very much.

Leroy "Jerry" worked at Ziggy's Restaurant as a Chef for over twenty years.  He loved to cook for his family and friends.  He worked at Bamberg School District One as a custodian for many years and was also a painter for many years in Bamberg County and surrounding areas.  He was a jack-of-all-trades.  His last employment was with Seventh Day Adventist River Oaks Campground in Orangeburg, SC.

Leroy "Jerry" leaves behind to cherish his memory and love:  his siblings, Mary (Harry) Downing, Terry (Darline) Washington, Shirley (Willie) Brown, Shelia, known as "Mom" to her sisters and brothers, Anthony Chris Washington, Pamela (Francis) Johnson and Lear (Fred) Smart, all of Bamberg, SC and Alice Kirkland of New York; a very special and loving caregiver, Ms. Georgia Sapp, the love of his life; nieces and nephews, Shari (Dwayne) Campbell, Kritafia Smart, Kheretta Smart, Devin (Kaquia) Washington, Christopher (Trenisia) Smart, Anrtonie Smart, Travis Kirkland, Nadia Walker, Taniya Washington, Calise Smart, Ahmad Lewis and Chylandice Jennings; an aunt, Lillia Themes; special cousins, Linda, Brenda, Lillian, Frances, Charlie, Al and Roger; brother-in-law, George Gadson as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
