Mrs. Lizzie Mae Johnson Brooker was the daughter of the late Mr. Thurmond Johnson, Sr. and the late Mrs. Girlean James Johnson Byas was born in Springfield, SC {Orangeburg County} on August 10, 1932.

She was a member of the New Beginning U.M.C in Norway SC. She was also a regular visitor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church for many years.

She was educated in the Orangeburg County Public School System. Affectionally known as "Mae" to family and friends was known for her kindness and love of church and family. She was a homemaker who loved cooking, fishing and gardening.

She was married to the late Mr. James L. Brooker, Sr. and this union was blessed with 12 children.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Edward G. Brooker; daughters, Patricia A. Brooker and Elizabeth Brooker-Hunter; siblings, Lewis Johnson, Bertha Sharperson, Elijah Johnson, Sr, Nathaniel Johnson, Lijah Johnson, Sr. and Thurmond Johnson, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories: seven sons, Rundell Brooker of Aiken, SC, Linell (Bernita) Brooker of Blackville SC, Leon Brooker of Atlanta, GA, James L. Brooker, Jr of Blackville SC., Thurmond (Taeman) Brooker of Florence SC, and Sherman Brooker of Columbia SC; two daughters: Melissa E. Brooker and Christine (Kim) Wilson both of Aiken, SC.; twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Emma L. Dicks, Mary L. Hammonds, Bertha M. Johnson all of Blackville, SC, Eva M. Bryant of Denmark, SC and Vera M. Hays of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Nathel and Jerimiah Johnson both of Blackville, SC; one aunt: Mrs. Emma L. Williams of Blackville, SC; two-sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mildred Whitehead and Mrs. Willie E. Whitely both of Philadelphia, PA; five brothers-in-laws, Deacon Lenon Brooker, Hampton, SC, Minister Moses Bryant, Denmark, SC, Mr. Ollie Brooker, Miami FL, Mr. Eddie Hay, Columbia, SC and Mr. Charles Johnson of Blackville, SC.; a special neighbor, Ms. Lestine Bush and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
