Funeral services for the late Mrs. Louise Dobie will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Frost Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Blackville, SC.  Interment services will follow immediately in the church cemetery.  Viewing for the public will be held one hour before the services begin.

Life Reflections

Mrs. Louise Dobie was born on May 6, 1933 in Barnwell County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Leila Mae Mays. Her father, only known as Cotton, died before she was born.

Louise married Charlie Dobie, Jr. She later moved to New York with her three young children, Jesse, Ruth and Emma. She was blessed with two more children, Charles and Elaine. Our mother, Louise later had the privilege of getting to spend time with her husband's daughter, Louise Riley. Our mother loved her and she loved our mom. We as a family became apart of her life and her mom, who we honored and respected. Louise became a different person upon receiving Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Two years after I witnessed to her, she experienced God's deliverance and power. For God swept through, affecting the lives of her loved ones and she was a soul winner for Christ and spoke boldly of the saving grace of Jesus and what he had done in the lives of her children and friends. She enrolled in an adult learning school and studied reading and arithmetic as she amazed her teacher with her testimony. Her teacher sent questions to our mother to look up for him in the bible, because my mother, Louise was always sharing The Gospel with him and the others in the school. This same teacher shortly died and he gave his heart to Jesus. The Lord used our mother with The Gospel of Jesus Christ, sharing her testimony with so many. We grew up in the projects and many neighbors received Christ due to the change in her life. Our mom and dad later moved back to South Carolina. Her best time spent was reading the bible, her Sunday school lesson and getting ready for church on Sunday morning.
Louise is survived by Ruth, her daughter and son, Charles Dobie; her grandchildren, Octavia Felton, Fiona, Salema, Joyce, Lil Jay, Mel, Jules Lil Fiona, Alana and many others.

The family thanks Gladys for being a present and faithful friend along with her pastor, Rev. Joseph B. Williams. She spoke of how you taught and cared for her.
