Funeral services for the late Mr. Luther "Boot" Dowling III will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Eden Baptist Church,Bamberg, SC. Interment services will follow immediately at the church cemetery. Rev. C. Terry Grimes will officate. Viewing for the public will be held on Thursday from 10:00 am- 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Luther Dowling III was born August 14th 1934 to the late John and O'Keller Dowling of Bamberg, South Carolina. Luther attended Richard Carroll High School. He also served in the United States Army where he served his country faithfully and patriotically. Luther who was affectionately known as "Boot" was outgoing, loving & friendly. He was married to the late Mary Brown of Bamberg, South Carolina. "Boot" attended Eden Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and sang on the male choir. He leaves to cherish his memories, sister, Minnie (McKinley)Ransom,Ivory Kirkland of Brooklyn, New York and Odessa(Marshall)Caldwell of Staten Island,New York & brother, Marion Dowling of Bamberg, South Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Madell Ming and Lillie Mae Dowling and Dianne Dowling of Brooklyn, NY and a host of nieces, nephews,numerous cousins and a host of dear friends who loved him. The Dowling family wishes to express their most sincere appreciation and thanks for all acts of kindness.
