Dr. Marlene Jackson Browne transitioned to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina.  She was the eldest of six children born to the late Reverend Lee Harrison and Mary Lou Jackson of Albany, Georgia.

Marlene was born on March 19, 1933, in Albany Georgia. Shortly after the birth of her baby sister Muriel, the family moved to Booklyn, New York where they established "roots".  Soon baby boy brother Robert was born and the family was "complete" so they thought.  However, after 20 years three more siblings were added: Marcella, Michele and finally Rodney; these additions completed the family tree.

Dr. Browne  received her formal education in the New York City school system, attending Public School 129 and graduating from Franklin K. Lane High School in 1950. She held several jobs as a bookkeeper and accountant for many firms in the New York City area.

In 1945,  her parents started a Prayer Band in their home which later became the establishment of Mount Calavry United Holy Church of America.  Marlene gave her life to Christ at an early age and pursued the Word of God fervently.  She served in several capacities to include:  choir member, secretary and Sunday School teacher.

In 1955, Marlene met the "Love of Her Life", George Leroi Browne, and they were wed in Holy Matrimony on September 28, 1957 in Brooklyn, New York.  Their union was blessed to produce their offspring of four children.  This union continued 55 years until the Lord called "Leroi" from labor to reward on November 24, 2012.

Dr. Browne always "thirsted" for more knowledge of the Word and thus she amplified her education and attended the United Christian College and Bible Institue, in New York where she received a Bachelor's,  Master's and finally a Doctoral Degree in Theology.  Dr. Browne was associated with the Bible Institute as a Teacher (New York Branch) and Associate Dean (Orangeburg, South Carolina Branch) for over forty years.   During this time she continued winning souls for Christ.  Marlene was one of the Founding Members of the United Christian College of the United Holy Church of America.  She was a tremendous asset to the School (Orangeburg Branch) and in 2012 was selected to deliver the commencement address.  Her topic was: "The Unspeakable Foundation" II Timothy 2:19 "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The LORD knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity".

In 1990,  Marlene and her family relocated to Orangeburg, South Carolina and joined Greater Faith Baptist Church.  She enjoyed ministering in word and music as a tenor.  She served on various committees, as a volunteer with the Child Development Center and was an active member of the Women's Ministry.

Marlene continued her work in the vineyard until 2019 when she was no longer able to teach due to her failing health. She remained a faithful and dedicated member until her transition.  Dr. Browne's transition has affected so many people from so many walks of life..she was truly loved by all whose lives she touched.

Dr. Browne was preceded in death by her parents: Reverend Lee Harrison and Mary Lou Jackson; her brother Robert; a sister, Muriel Jenkins and her devoted husband, George Leroi Browne.

Dr. Browne leaves to cherish her precious memories four children:  George Leroi, III, and Leigh "Libby" Turner of the home; Christopher Winfield of Philadelphia, PA, and Lyle Harrison Browne (Kelly) of Columbia, South Carolina; seven grandchildren: Natalie and Natacha White, GeMar Browne, Tyler Brown, Galen (Vivian) Browne, Evan Browne, and Seven Browne; five great grandchildren, two sisters: Marcella Steele (Maurice) of Brandon, Florida and Michelle Jackson of Port St. Lucie, Florida; one brother, Reverend Rodney L. Jackson (Cynthia)  of  Freeport, New York,  a host of nieces, nephews, a dear and loving friend Marilyn Hodges,  The entire Northern & Southern Districts of the United Holy Church of America, Dean, Faculty and Students of the United Christian College Bible Institute, Greater Faith Baptist Church Minister of Music, Choir Members, Church Family, other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Dr. Marlene Jackson Browne…."I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me  a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day:  and not only me, but unto all them also that love His appearing".  II Timothy 4:7-8.

The family will have a  memorial service at a later date in an effort to protect the safety of the public, due to COVID 19.
