Ms. Marshell Brown was born on October 22, 1949, in Blackville, South Carolina, to the late John Henry and Ishmell Johnson. With courage and determination, she left Blackville at an early age to participate in an apprenticeship program in Washington, D.C. This opportunity opened the door to a long and meaningful career with the United States Federal Government, where she worked in various departments and positions until her retirement.

Marshell was a blessing to all who knew her. She had a deep love for travel and fashion, embracing both with joy and elegance. Her adventurous spirit allowed her to travel the world for work and leisure, collecting experiences that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. She also had a natural gift for design, bringing creativity, beauty, and a personal touch to everything she put her hands to.

Marshell was a songstress with a beautiful, soulful voice. Whether singing in worship or sharing her gift among family and friends, her voice carried warmth, emotion, and a sincerity that touched hearts.

A woman of unwavering faith, Marshell was truly God's Daughter. She lived her faith with sincerity and devotion, worshiping faithfully at St. Matthews Baptist Church in District Heights, Maryland. Her life reflected the love, compassion, and strength that come from walking closely with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, John Johnson Jr., Charlie Johnson, Irene Bellinger, Ruth Sales, and Willie Dell Montgomery.

Marshell leaves to cherish her memory her son, Jerry D. Johnson, and her brother, Robert Johnson (Shirley). She will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, grace, creativity, and loving spirit.

Her legacy of faith, strength, artistry, and joy will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her.
