Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth English Butler will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Rome Baptist Church in Denmark, South Carolina. Mrs. Butler will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Interment services will follow immediately at Bamberg Memory Gardens. Rev. Sanka Davis will officiate. Mrs. Mary E. English Butler, daughter of the late Leroy and Mary Williams English was born on January 3, 1952 in Bamberg County, South Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on June 14, 2012 after a brief illness. "Liz", as she was affectionately known by all who knew and loved her, joined the Franklin United Methodist Church at an early age. She attended the public schools of Bamberg County and was also an alumnae of Denmark Technical College, Denmark, SC. Most recently, Mary decided to pursue further studies at Denmark Technical College. She was previously employed at Delavan, Inc. and Laurel Bay Nursing Home. Mary was blessed with five beautiful children. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a good cook and enjoyed caring for others. She brought joy and laughter to the room when she entered. Mary is preceded in death by one son, Anthony English, three sisters: Ida Covington, Christine Moody, Artha M. Smith, and one brother, William English. Mary is survived by her faithful and loving children, three daughters: Wendy Tyler, Martha (Sanford) Pickens, Alicia (James) Shuler, all of Denmark, SC; one son, Albert (Theresa) Butler of Columbia, SC; four grandsons: Terence Hinton, Jacquez Shuler, Albert Butler Jr., and Jordan Shuler; seven granddaughters: Santesha Pickens, Kayla Hinton, Lilliauna Eady, Kristen Pickens, Kiera Butler, Paris Commander, and Jalisa Shuler; two great-grandaughters: Teonna Rice and Alexis Hinton; two great-grandsons: Treveon Hinton and Terence Hinton Jr; a special sister of the home: Carrie M. English; one brother, Charles (Retha) English; two aunts: Margaret English and Doshia M. Kemp; three uncles: Charles English, Arthur Lee English, and Nathaniel Parker; one brother-in-law, Hubert Covington; a special niece who was reared in the home: Yulonda Green; a special niece/caretaker Brenda Harris of Hartford, CT, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. Public viewing will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
