Funeral services for the late Mary E. Gadson will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Canaan Baptist Church, Branchville, SC. Interment services will follow immediately at Shack Ran Cemetery, Branchville, SC. Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon-8:00 pm at the funeral home. Mary Ellen Gadson went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2013 after an extended illness. She was born and raised in Branchville, South Carolina and received her formal education through the Branchville Public School System. Mother Gadson was one of six children born to Clay and Shellie Mack. She was united in Holy matrimony for over 60 years to Robert Gadson, and to this union were born ten children. She was preceded in death by father Clay Mack; mother Shellie Mack, husband Robert Gadson, sister Esther Garvin; brothers Vernon Mack, John Louis Mack, Shelly Mack, Jr. and Jimmy Mack; daughters Jean I. Lincoln and Mary Gadson; and grandson Orin Gadson. Mother Gadson was a lifelong member of Bethel AME Church and loved fundraisers. She also served on the usher board and as a missionary. Left to cherish endearing memories are: five daughters, Frances Gadson, Sarah Gadson, Lorraine Johnson (Hiram), Denise Bowman and Lillie Williams (Nesbert); three sons, Robert Gadson (Marie), Herman Gadson (Willie Mae) and James Gadson (Diane); five adopted children, Mammie Lee (Rodell), Josie Bell Mack, Steve Mack, Larry Mack and Arthur Mack; three sisters, Sylvia Pelzer, Verna Louise Gordon (Floyd) and Lucille Waller; 50 grandchildren and 81 great grandchildren.
