Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary Magdalene James will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Interment will follow immediately at Mt. Carmel UMC Cemetery, Bamberg, South Carolina.  Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday from 12:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.

M ary Magdalene James , daughter of the late Monnie Grimes and Georgia Ann Middleton Grimes, was born in Bamberg, South Carolina on March 1, 1927 and departed this life on September 28, 2018 at Pruitt Health in Bamberg, South Carolina, after an extended illness.

She was educated in the Clear Pond School in Bamberg, South Carolina.

Mary was married to the late William Kelly Buster James.

She was employed by Beth Israel Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William James and a son, Jerome Grimes, three brothers and seven sisters.

Mary is survived by a devoted niece, Ruby Graham of Bamberg, South Carolina; four sisters-in-law: Evelyn Sellers, Helen Steedley, Mildred Wiggins and Hattie James all of Bamberg, South Carolina; granddaughter, Cassandra (Wilbert) Gilliard of Middleton, Delaware; a great grand of Middleton, Delaware and a host of nieces, nephews and caring friends.
