Mary Elizabeth Jones was born May 12th, 1948 in North
Hampton County to the late George Thomas Hart and the
late Virgie Mae Stephenson. On August 25th, 2025 she
departed her life at Carlyle Senior Care of Williston, SC.
She received her education in North Hampton County
School. She is preceded in death by: her son, Kenneth
Callahan; her mother, Virgie Mae Branch; father, George
Thomas Hart; two sisters, Susan and Lorice; one brother,
Jerry; and step-father, McKinley Branch, Jr.
Mary later moved to Brooklyn, NY where she lived for fifty
years and was employed by Phelps Time Lock Company
for twenty-five years, retired and later moved to Blackville,
South Carolina.
Mary was very active in her church, and she loved her
church family.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Bobby
Jones of Blackville, South Carolina; two sons, Joseph and
Timothy Callahan of Brooklyn, New York; five bonus
children; two grandchildren; one great-grand; three sisters,
Pearlie Artis, Teresa Johnson and Phyllis Gee of Conway,
South Carolina; two brothers, Ardell Hart (Parica) of
Virginia Beach and Ryan Branch of Severn, North Carolina;
three sisters-in-law, Jessie Mae Jones of Blackville, South
Carolina, Shirley Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina and
Darnell Jones of Brooklyn, New York; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and loving friends.
