Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary L. Brown will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Jesus Christ Tabernacle Church in Aiken, South Carolina. Interment services will follow immediately at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Williston, South Carolina. Public viewing will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 12:00 noon- 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Our Angel, Mary Louise Brown was born August 17, 1933 in Blackville, SC to the late Shelly and Catherine Holman. Mary, affectionately known to her family and peers as "Toot" grew up in Blackville, SC. Mary joined Macedonia Baptist Church at an early age before she matriculated to Brooklyn, New York to begin her career as a model for Macy's Department Store. During her frequent trips between New York and South Carolina Mary met the love of her life and was later united in holy matrimony to the late Marvin Brown of Williston, SC. In 1987, Mary and Marvin retired and planted permanent community roots in Aiken, SC. The last chapter of Mary's life closed very peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and a good neighbor. She was loved and respected by all who were privileged to know her. Mary leaves behind two daughters: Joyce Holman of Aiken, South Carolina and Joanne Holman of Atlanta,Georgia; a brother, James (Jeanie)Holman of Blackville, SC; a sister, Mildred Walker of Blackville,South Carolina; two sisters- in-law, Cora B. Wimberly of Williston,SC and Marilyn Brown of Aiken, SC; five grandchildren: Shelton (Haneefa)Ray of Atlanta, GA, Melissa Moody of St. Petersburg, FL, Krystal Fowlkes of Atlanta, GA, Michelle Adams of Aiken, SC and Bobbi-Marissa Felton of Atlanta, GA; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
