Funeral services for the late Mary E. McMillan will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at  12:00 noon at McCune Branch Baptist Church, Lodge, South Carolina.  Interment services will follow immediately at the church cemetery.  Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon - 8:00 pm at the Bamberg Chapel.



Mary E. McMillan was born on November 7, 1939 in Ehrhardt, South Carolina. She was the eighth of 11 children born to the late Lish and Neta Murdaugh. She was called to eternal rest on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at her home in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Mary received her education from Bamberg County Public Schools. She worked at Paine Webber Financial Institution in New York for 40 years, where she served in a Management position. Once she retired, she purchased a home and moved back to Orangeburg, South Carolina.

She joined McCune Branch Baptist Church in Lodge, South Carolina at a early age and continued to serve and faithfully support the church until she was called into her Heavenly home. She also attended Time Square Church in Manhattan, New York.

Mary (Polly) was loved by her family. She loved attending Bible study, reading novels, and especially enjoyed watching sports! She always imparted words of wisdom about the value of education. Her uncompromising faith and love for the Lord, was a personal relationship that she truly cherished. She will forever be remembered as a woman of God who loved and cared for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by six siblings Gladys, Nadine, Bernard, Homer, Frank and Rita.

Ms. McMillan leaves to cherish fond memories: one son, Ronald Murdaugh of Melbourne, Florida; two loving grandchildren, Crystal (Steven) Tilley of Palm Bay, Florida and Deidra Murdaugh of Melbourne, Florida; one special great-granddaughter, Rhella-Divine A. Murdaugh; three brothers, Nathaniel Murdaugh of Queens, New York, Reverend Henry (Norma) Murdaugh of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Ernest (Dorothy) Murdaugh of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; one sister, Dorothy Murdaugh-Long of Hollis Park, New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
