Funeral services for Mr. Matthew Wroten, Sr. will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. Phillip Church of God in Christ, Govan, SC. Viewing for the public will be held on Sunday from 12:00 noon- 8:00 pm at the Dash's Funeral Home Bamberg Chapel. On Wednesday morning, August 19, 2015, Mr. Matthew Wroten, Sr. departed this life to live in eternal rest. Matthew was born on August 5, 1952 in Bamberg County, South Carolina, the son of the Willie and Luvenia Wroten. At an early age, he joined St. Phillip Church of God in Christ. He was a graduate of Voorhees High School and Denmark Area Trade-School. On April 29, 1972, Matthew was joined in holy matrimony to Jacqueline Ephriam and to this union, one child was born. Matthew is preceded in death by his Father, Willie Wroten and a brother, Willis Wroten. To family and friends, Matthew was very loving and caring; he was a dependable husband, father and a devoted friend. Matthew, retired from Milliken Corporation after 43 years of service. Matthew leaves to cherish a loving and devoted wife, Jacqueline of the home; one son, Matthew (Courtney) Wroten, Jr., of Blackville, SC; mother, Levenia Wroten of Govan, SC; three sisters, Willie Mae Daniels of Govan, SC, Lureatha (Sammie) Fulton, of Charleston, SC, and Michelle (Edgar) Banks of Govan, SC; Five sis-in-laws, Lucille Taylor and Ruby (Ernest) Rutledge, of Trenton, NJ, Hattie Brown of Blackville, SC, Carolyn Simpson of Brooklyn, NY and Sheryl (Tony) Steadman of South Orange, New Jersey; a special nephew/son, Pfc. Xavier( Kanesha) Reed of Killeen, TX; two aunts, Samella Edwards of Govan, SC and Martha Wroten of Chester PA; God-daughter, Shaniquia Green of Fayetteville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
