Funeral services for the late Ms. Mia Briana James will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Bamberg, SC.  Interment services will follow immediately at Bamberg Memory Gardens, Bamberg, SC. There will be no public viewing.


Ms. Mia Briana Justine James was born March 7,1988 to Howard and Miriam James Sr. She left to be with Jesus Christ on February 11, 2018.

Mia attended the public schools of Orangeburg and graduated from Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in 2006. Mia went on to attend South Carolina State University, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Mia spent her working career as the Hearing, Screening Coordinator at the Neonatal Unit at Palmetto Health at the Richland and Baptist Parkridge locations. Mia was very passionate and loved her job.

At an early age, Mia accepted Jesus Christ and joined Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Bamberg, S.C. Mia was active in the following organizations: the choir, the usher ministry and was an Acolyte. Mia loved the Lord and would sing loudly for the Lord. Mia was full of life, love, laughter, a trend setting fashionista. Mia was simply a loving soul and well loved by many. Mia enjoyed traveling. She and her friends often traveled around the world by car, plane and ship. Mia's love for adventure took her from the mountains to the sea and now she's traveling to heaven.

She was preceded in death by her loving grandparents Sam and Thelma James Sr. and Rev. Eugene and Justine McCants Sr.

Kaia Heyobe, Morgan Thompson and Madison Thompson(Jersey City, NJ); nephews, James Harris III and Haiden James (Orangeburg, S.C.); aunts, Charlotte McCants Golson of Orangeburg, S.C., Sharon (Kelly Sr.) McCants Manigault of Orangeburg, S.C., Rena Marroquin of Atlanta, Ga, Mary Jones of Eutawville, S.C, Emma (William) James of Eutawville, S.C., Hazel James of Vance, S.C; uncle Sam (Odessa) James of Rahway, NJ, Terry (Diane) Jenkins of Holly Hill, S.C.; Special Aunt, Tywanna (Kelly) Rouse of Springvalley, NY ; Special cousins who grew up like sisters and brothers to Mia, Teala, Kelly Jr., Kelsha, Jessica, Nakeya, Atalie and Ebony.
