Mildred Blanche White was born on December 2nd, 1931, to the late Deacon Morgan Davis and Deaconess Lottie Staley Davis in Blackville, South Carolina—the second of four children.

As a young girl, she received her early education at Voorhees School and Junior College in Denmark, S.C. She received her bachelor's degree from Benedict College in Columbia, S.C. In addition, she obtained a master's degree and reading specialist certificate from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.

Her Christian upbringing began at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Blackville, S.C., and continued with faithful service at Canaan Baptist Church and Mount Ephraim Christian Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She served in several capacities: Sunday school teacher, choir leader, Bible study leader, deaconess, and mother of the church.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late William Roosevelt "Bill" White on June 8th, 1952. This union was blessed with four children –two daughters and two sons. She moved to Philadelphia in 1954, where she taught in the Philadelphia School System for 35 years while leaving an indelible mark in the spiritual development and mentorship of youth.

Upon retirement, Mildred returned to Blackville, where she dedicated herself to the Lord's service at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, teaching bible study and educating and assisting home school students. She continued her educational service with Barnwell County School District 19 and Bamberg 2 Adult Education.

Millie leaves to cherish precious memories – daughters, Saundra L. White, Newnan Ga, Gladys White Toney, Sumter SC; sons, Marvin White, Eagle Pass, TX,  William "Harvey" (Karen) White, Irmo S.C.; sisters, Emily Lee, Blackville S.C. and Betty Monteiro, Hephzibah, Ga.; sister-in-law, Juliette White Byrd, Philadelphia PA.; goddaughters Vicky Mitchell, Denver, CO. and Tasha Carr, Philadelphia PA.;  nine grandchildren, a legacy of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mother White leaves us with 92 years of wisdom, a legacy of educators, service, and answered prayers for generations.
