Morvenia Butterfield Denmark, was born the third daughter of Henry and Druecilla Jones-Butterfield on November 10, 1937 in Bamberg, South Carolina. She was educated in the public school system of Bamberg County. At an early age, she became a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, in Bamberg, South Carolina.

She met and married her first husband, Willie James Campbell and was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Shirley. She then moved to Brooklyn, New York and worked in the manufacturing industry for many years. During this time, she met and married her second husband, Edward Denmark. She later relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant until she retired. Unfortunately, her health started to fail in 2021and she moved to Orangeburg, South Carolina to be closer to her family.

Morvenia was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Willie Lee Butterfield.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Walker of Hinesville, Georgia; sisters, Jean E. Legree of Bamberg, South Carolina, Elaise Walker of Walterboro, South Carolina, Annette D. Clowney of Orangeburg, South Carolina; brother, John H. Dowling of Orangeburg, South Carolina and loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a dedicated caregiver, Mrs. Cynthia Smith.
