Funeral services for the late Antonio Johnson will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Blackville-Hilda High School Auditorium, Blackville, SC.  Interment services will follow at Shrub Branch Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Blackville, SC.  Viewing for the public will be held on Friday from 12:00  noon- 7:00 pm at the funeral home.


Antonio Rodriguico Johnson, affectionately known as "AJ", was born in Aiken, South Carolina on December 22, 1988 to Letha and Tony Johnson. Our Heavenly Father called him home on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina,.

At an early age, "AJ" joined Shrub Branch Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Blackville- Hilda High School where he was a respected student, where his love for football grew. Soon after graduating from high school, he attended Feather River College in Quincy, California, where he continued to play the sport he loved most. "AJ" later became interested in building construction and enrolled in ITT Technical Institute, which led him to move back to his hometown of Blackville and became employed at Masonite in Denmark, South Carolina.

"AJ" was known as a man who loved to smile and make others laugh with his jokes. Whom ever he encountered, he wanted to make sure they were enjoying life just as much as he was. There wasn't any dream that was too big or too small for "AJ", which is why he was known as a hard worker. He was very much so outgoing, outspoken and the "best dressed" wherever he decided to go.

"AJ' was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Corine Ward; his aunts, Mary Brown and Marcia Jamison and his cousin, Travis Brown.

Cherishing "AJ's" precious memories are his mother, Letha (Leon Jamison) Johnson of Blackville, SC; his father, Tony Johnson of Covington, GA; a brother, Deshaun (Monique) Richburg of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Angel Johnson of Atlanta, GA; a stepbrother, Kerry Moten; a step sister, Shalonda Williams of Atlanta, GA; uncles, James (Callie) Ward of Blackville, SC, Elder Wesley Johnson Jr. of Charleston, SC, Buddy Johnson of Bamberg, SC and Walter (Pam) Johnson of Chattanooga, TN, Terry (Charlotte) Johnson of Hanover, MD and Larry (Rosalind) Johnson of Orangeburg, SC; aunts, Evelyn (CL) Jamison, Helen (Lem) Steward, Loretta Reed and Barbara Johnson all of Denmark, SC, Cathy McCrea of Blackville, SC, Mary Jenkins of Gaston, SC, Mamie (Lisbon) Nimmons and Dorothy Johnson both of Orangeburg, SC ; his nieces and nephews, Trey, Makenzie and Trew Richburg of Charlotte, NC; a God sister, Jamesha Joyner of Williston, SC; a God brother, DayQuan Kirkland; a special friend, Lashonda Tyler of Wagner, SC and a host of cousins, other family members and friends.
