NETTIE MAE GRIMES entered into life on April 16, 1926. She
was the daughter of the late Jennie and Frank Richvine.
Nettie was born and raised in Bamberg, SC (Midway Community).
She attended Midway Community School. She was also a pillar
and faithful member of Pilgrim Baptist Church.
Throughout her many years of domestic work, she developed a
passion for cooking and baking for the community. She was well
known for her pies and cakes.
Nettie was the beloved wife of Burke Carter who preceded her
in death. After Mr. Carter's passing, she married Nathaniel Grimes
in 1958. After the passing of Nathaniel Grimes, she shared a home
with her beloved niece, Lena Corley who became her care taker
for many years.

A step-sister, Evangelist Geneva Rickenbacker, also preceded her
in death.

Nettie leaves to cherish her memories: three nieces, Lena Corley
of Orangeburg, SC, Annie Butler of North Carolina and Mary
Wilson of Connecticut; sister-in-law, Willie Corley of Branchville,
SC and a host of other nieces and nephews
