Mrs. Ollie Mae "Tutt" James Bamberg departed this life on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at her residence when our Lord called her home to be with Him. Ollie was born on August 10, 1937 in Bamberg County to the late Ida Mae and Joe James. She was educated in the Bamberg County Public School Systems. At an early age, she joined Hutto Chapel Baptist Church where served faithfully until her death. She was also a member of the Bethlehem Chapter #50 OES since 1982. Ollie Mae was employed by Glover's Café where she worked as a cook for many years. She later went on to work for Tommy Rose Bar-B-Que until her retirement in May of 1999. In addition, Ollie enjoyed singing and spending lots of time with her family and friends, but her passion was fishing and visiting flea markets as much as she could. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Elijah Bamberg. Ollie Mae was blessed with four children, in which three preceded her in death, Delores, Evelyn and Eric Bamberg. She leaves to cherish her memories: one loving son, Willie James (Julia) Bamberg of Bamberg, SC; six grandchildren reared in the home: Tameka L. Bamberg, Jermaine D. Bamberg of the home; Natesha L. Bamberg of Bamberg, SC; Vivian L. Bamberg of West Columbia, SC; Joseph D. Bamberg of Charleston, SC; and Anton D. Bamberg of Greenville, SC; other grandchildren include Minister Willie J. (Josephine) Bamberg of Beaufort, SC; Nakeia S. Bamberg of Charleston, SC; Jeffrey J. Bamberg of Bamberg, SC: Eric L.W. Bamberg of Orangeburg, SC; and Chyna and Wynter Johnson of Bronx, NY; nine great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly; one sister, Bertha (Ernest) Kemp of Hilda, SC; two aunts, Edna Bamberg of Ehrhardt, SC and Grace Bamberg of Norfolk, VA; one uncle, Wallace Bamberg of North Charleston, SC; four sisters-in-law, Elouise James and Samella Bamberg of Bamberg, SC, and Albertha and Almeta Brown of Milwaukee, WI; four brothers-in-law, Johnny Bamberg, Sammy (Helen) Bamberg, and Kenneth Bamberg of Bamberg, SC, and Lewis Bamberg of Nebraska; Special friends, Mrs. Ida M. Tarrant of Lindenwold, NJ, Mrs. Earline Walker and Ms. Verdine Tyler, both of Bamberg, SC; and many adopted grandchildren. She also leaves a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Tuesday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.
