Joseph Jackson **Mrs. Dowling will be placed in the sanctuary of the church one hour before the service. Mrs. Pearl S. Dowling was born on October 26, 1946 and entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 13, 2013. She is the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Smith. She was married to the late Lockwood Dowling, Jr. Pearl received her education in the Barnwell County Public School System. She retired from South Carolina School System after a number of years of service. She was an active and faithful member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed. Pearl was preceded in death by three brothers, Norman Hayes, Henry Smith, Jr., and Willie J. Smith; her sisters Dororthy Smith, Kayola M. Ferguson and Henrietta Nickens. Cherishing her memories are: daughters, Connie Dowling and Pearlina Dowling both of Raleigh, NC; two sons, David R. Dowling of Augusta, GA and Lockwood Dowling, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Kayollie Ferguson of Williston, SC, Marcella (Emmanuel) Raysor, Thelma (Fred) Pryor, Eartha (Spencer) Braxton all of Blackville, SC; her brother, Larry Smith of Blackville, SC; a mother-in-law, Rosa L. Dowling; sisters-in-law, Annie Dowling and Georgia Mae Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday from 1:00- 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence of sister, Mrs. Eartha Braxton, 113 Sunset Street, Blackville, SC and at the funeral home.
