Peggy Odom White passed at the age of eighty-four. She departed this life on May 27, 2020 peacefully at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC.

She was born in Barnwell County to the late Rev. Napoleon and Mrs. Alma Odom.

Peggy graduated from Macedonia High School in Blackville and later attended Voorhees College.

Peggy married the late Professor Theodore R. White in 1958, as she affectionately called him "Prof".   She loved being called Mrs. White a titled she well deserved, because she was a loving and caring wife.

At an early age Peggy joined the Sweet Branch Baptist Church of Govan, SC, where she was active in various positions for many years. She was a co-founder of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church, Denmark, SC, recently she united with the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Blackville, SC.

Peggy was blessed to be a member of a large family six brothers and three sisters, surviving siblings are sisters Hannah O. Singleton and Annie Mae (Willie) Gerrick.

During her lifetime Peggy held many positions in the area, she worked for Chill Chest in Williston, she was also a caregiver for many children of various families in the area and her final employment was with the Barnwell County Public School System working with the "Grandparenting Program".

As a true Christian, she  opened her home to many people that were in compromising positions and was an excellent caregiver. Peggy for over thirty years was a loving  and devoted caregiver to Sarah Blair.

Peggy was an avid gardener/farmer, always sharing her bounty with her friends and neighbors. She was always willing and able to drive them, wherever they needed to go when she was able. Let us not forget her many fishing outings with friends. She "LOVED" to fish.

Also, Peggy had a support group that are also mourning her at this time, Juliette White Byrd, stepdaughter, caregivers Pamela Raysor, Rose Marie Hardin and special grandson Marvin White and granddaughter Saundra White.

Peggy's beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
