Funeral services for the late Queen Esther "Rae" Franklin will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at Edisto Fork United Methodist Church, Orangeburg, SC. Interment services will follow immediately at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Ellis White Jr., will officiate. Viewing for the public will be held on Thursday from 12:00 noon- 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Queen Esther "Rae" Franklin, daughter of the late Benjamin and Julia (Muck) Franklin, was born in Cope, South Carolina on May 10, 1932, the youngest of six children. She entered into eternal rest on August 9, 2016 at the Riverside Health Care Rehabilitation Center, Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Life Reflections
Queen Esther "Rae" Franklin, daughter of the late Benjamin and Julia (Muck) Franklin, was born in Cope, South Carolina on May 10, 1932, the youngest of six children. She entered into eternal rest on August 9, 2016 at the Riverside Health Care Rehabilitation Center, Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Rae, as she was affectionately called, was educated in Cope Public Schools. At an early age, she gave her life to Christ at Calvary United Methodist Church located Cope, South Carolina. Rae sang on the senior choir before the merger with Edisto Fork United Methodist Church.
Rae was employed as a housekeeper with the Traywick Family and the Pannell Family. As a youth, she enjoyed trips to New York to visit her older sister, family and friends. She was a very kind, loving and independent woman. Her strength made it difficult for her to accept the generosity that others showered her with. Although she did not have children of her own, she considered Deaver and Tatum Traywick her boys. They would still come to see her; spending time with her on her back porch or bringing her something if she needed it. She also had a very close relationship with her niece, Alice.
Rae is the last of the Franklin children to transition into glory. Her siblings, George Sr., Oscar, Mack, Julia and Azille (Clay) preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her nieces, Alice McArthur and Caroline Franklin of Harrisburg, PA; nephews, Anthony (Victoria) Franklin of Cypress, TX and Timothy Franklin of Harrisburg, PA; sister-in-law, Bessie "Tiny" Franklin of Harrisburg, PA; very special cousins, Ella Julia Franklin and Flora Mae Franklin; her "boys" Deaver Traywick of Asheville, NC and Tatum Traywick of Cope and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
