Mrs. Robinson was born on September 28, 1935 in Rowesville, SC and was the daughter of the late Leila Mae and Dan Shuler.
Mrs. Robinson graduated from Claflin University and in 1955 married the late William Robinson, Jr. of Bowman, South Carolina, who was the first African American Mayor of Bowman.
She was a dedicated elementary school teacher for the Orangeburg and Dorchester Counties school systems for many years. Mrs. Robinson was very active in her community through civic activities to include Les Madame, Order of the Eastern Star and other community service organizations. She was a faithful and lifelong member of Prospect United Methodist Church, where she was a devoted and loving Sunday School teacher, choir member, member of the Women's Missionary and Executive Board and chairperson of the worship committee.
She is survived by her son, William (Christal) Lamar of Chicago, Illinois; daughters, Karen Lewis of Germantown, Maryland, Angela (Joseph) McNellage and Carol (Thomas) Wheeler both of Frederick, Maryland; grandchildren, Bryndon (Megan), Austin (Christina), Jenna, Tiffany, Marissa, Morgan and Michael; six great grandchildren; a sister, Vernell Culver of Jacksonville, Florida and a host of nieces and nephews as well as other loving family members and friends.
Viewing for the public will be held on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
