Roland Elvin Kinard was born April 15, 1960 to Jasie McMillan Kinard and the late Leroy Elvin Kinard in Manhattan, New York. He entered into eternal rest at the age of 60, on December 23, 2020 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

At an early age, he was baptized at Union Baptist Church, where he faithfully served in the following: Sunbeam Choir, Sunday School, Youth Choir, Youth Programs, and in all Youth activities. His youth performance in his church extended to serving as president of the Mt. Calvary Youth Association.

Roland grew up in the Orange Grove Community, where he participated in all of sports and activities that were available to the youths.

Roland's educational career began in Brooklyn, New York, where he attended PS 45 in first and second grade. Later, when his parents returned to South Carolina, he entered GW Carver Elementary School, followed by Bamberg School District 1. While in high school, he played football, and became a member of the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), where he served as vice president.

Upon graduating from Bamberg- Ehrhardt High School in 1977, he furthered his education at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he majored in Agricultural Business. Roland's association with extra-curricular activities while in college, included many honorable achievements. In 1981, he was initiated into the Mu Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Moving forward, Roland's final goal ended when he entered the world of work. His first job was working with Farmer's Home Administration, approving loans for farmers. Later, he worked for South Carolina Department of Corrections. He moved to York, Pennsylvania, where he became a counselor at Job Corps. Moving back to South Carolina, he became a truck driver for Derst Bread Company and Swift Driving, until his health failed.  Finally, his work career ended when he became a resident's coordinator at Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina.

One other and final thing to be remembered about Roland was that he was inspirational in working with his wife, Jayme, in the Denmark Dogwood Festival for 7 years. His final chapter closed with singing with The Gospel Knights of Orange Grove Community, founded by the Ross family.

Roland was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Elvin Kinard; his grandparents, Joshua and Nancy Smith McMillan, who were very inspirational in his rearing, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and other relatives.

Survivors are - his wife, Jayme Bradford Kinard of Columbia, SC; son, Jevin J. Kinard of Bronx, NY; mother, Jasie M. Kinard of Bamberg, SC; brother, Kenneth (Susan) Kinard of Bamberg, SC; brother, Steve Dillinger of Hagerstown, MD; sister, Cyndia K. Scarborough of Lexington, SC; sister, Lorraine Washington of North Augusta, SC; aunts: Florence M. Rivers of Tuskegee, AL, Rose M. (Joe) Odom of High Point, NC, Mabel Grimes, Earnistine Geiger and Eloise (Robert) Smith of York, PA; uncles: Jerry and Lucious Kinard of York, PA. He also leaves his favorite nephew of Durham, NC, Jasean Kinard.  Finally, leaving in his cherished memories, his favorite line brothers of Mu Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and a host of other relatives and friends.
