Funeral services for the late Ruth Dobie Augustus will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 1:00 pm at St. Peter Baptist Church, Williston, SC. Interment services will follow immediately at Hope Memorial Park Cemetery, Barnwell, SC. Viewing for the public will be held on Friday from 10:00 am- 8:00 pm. A Life Cherished and Remembered Mrs. Ruth Dobie Augustus When I must leave you for a little while, feed not your loneliness on empty days; please do not grieve and shed wild tears, but fill waking hours in useful ways. Ruth Dobie Augustus was born in Barnwell County, South Carolina on January 15, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Dobie and Pauline Sanders. She was called from labor to rest on May 12, 2014. She received her secondary education at Macedonia High School, Blackville, South Carolina. Acknowledging Christ at an early age, she joined Saint Peter Baptist Church, Elko, South Carolina. She was a member of several organizations while serving in the church: Usher Board, the Senior Choir, the Golden Age Club and lastly the Mother of the Church, where she remained faithful until her health failed. Mrs. Augustus worked at several manufacturing companies until she retired. After retirement, she became a full time homemaker. Mrs. Augustus is preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Luther Augustus, one daughter, six sisters and one brother. Cherishing her fond and precious memories are her daughters: Barbara Augustus and Sandra Daigre of Blackville, SC; one sister, Mary Roundtree of Blackville, SC; two brothers: Eddie Dobie (Kathleen) of Charlotte, NC and Leroy Dobie (Ida) of Columbia, SC; four sisters-in-law: Georgiann Ward (Raymond) of Brooklyn, NY, Gloria Augustus (Willie) of Brooklyn, NY, Pernell Augustus of Jacksonville, NC and Navie Jean Augustus (Jerry) of Brooklyn, NY; three grandchildren: Teneka Gadson (Maurice), Hope Coleman of Blackville, SC and Lawrence Coleman (Jackie) of Aiken, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
