Sadie Alberta Dash McNair completed her journey on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at her home in Orangeburg, South Carolina.  As a result, her family and friends feel a void that cannot be filled.  Her beautiful smile and courageous spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Sadie was born on March 24, 1917 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Laval and Mattie Rufus Dash.

Sadie attended elementary and high school at Claflin College.  She went on to complete her education at South Carolina State College where she received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration despite fighting polio.  Sadie went on to work at her alma mater, South Carolina State College, because of her passion and dedication to education, equity and civil rights.

Sadie helped charter Christ the King Church, which later merged with Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  She was a devout Catholic and served the faith and ministry diligently until she became ill.

Sadie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Laval and Mattie Rufus Dash.  Her siblings, Annie, Rufus, Warren, Harvin, Johnson, Leon, and Barbara and special sister-in-love, Ida.

Sadie's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her children, Daniel, Gayle, and Deidre (John); a granddaughter, Darcelle; three great-grandsons, Nazir, Jayceon, and John II; a great-granddaughter, Janelle Sadye; three nieces, Gloria, Angela, and Cecilia; three nephews Leon, Michael (Kay), and Ronald (Kim); a host of great-nieces and nephews, and a special caregiver, Emma Glover.
