Mrs. Sallie Mae Cann was born of the late James and Annie Ruth Cann on April 14, 1962 in Bamberg, SC.  Sallie was the oldest daughter out of nine children.  Sallie took her rest on September 29, 2023.

Sallie was raised and resided in Bamberg, SC.  She attended and graduated from Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School in 1980.  She also attended Denmark Technical College studying Cosmetology / Barbering as well as Culinary Arts.  She worked in the food service industry for many years of her life, and she worked as a Home Healthcare nurse for the past fifteen years.

Sallie enjoyed life to the fullest and was the life of the party.  She sincerely loved her family and friends and spent time with them as much as possible.  She always had a smile on her face, a woman of strength, grace and unique style.  She was always helping and taking care of others.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Chisolm, and her brother, James Cann, Jr.

Sallie leaves behind:  her three loving children, Sherman Cann (Sharell), Sharmaine Phelps (Elliott) of Orangeburg, SC and Shaleena Funches (Brandle) of Lumberton, MS; seven grandchildren, Jabari Funchess, Shameka Cann, Zyrell Cann and Sherman Cann, Jr. (SJ), TyRell Lucas, Darrius Lucas, and DaShawn Haynes; four sisters, Pearline Wright (Michael), Martha Cann (Joseph), Frances Cann of Bamberg, SC and Vanessa Coleman (Marcus) of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Phillip Cann of Bamberg, SC
and Nathaniel Cann (Jasmine) of Greenville, SC;
her special friend, Hercules Rice; beloved aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends
and classmates that were like family
to her whom she loved dearly.
