Sammie Hayes Bamberg, the son of the late Henry Angus Bamberg and Pirtella Grimes Bamberg was born on October 27, 1948 in Bamberg, South Carolina.  He transitioned into eternal rest on September 20, 2025, at his residence in Bamberg, South Carolina.

Sammie was educated in the public schools of Bamberg County and was a graduate of Richard Carroll High School.  Following graduation, he began his career at Chill Chest Manufacturer before joining the Bamberg Police Department, where he dedicated 35 years of faithful service and rose to the rank of Assistant Chief.

On December 31, 1970, Sammie was united into holy matrimony to the late Helen D. Bamberg.  Their loving union endured for fifty-four years until her passing.

One of ten siblings, Sammie was affectionately known by his family as "Good Baby".  Eight of his siblings preceded him in death.  Sammie was admired not only by his family but also admired by his co-workers and the community he served.

Sammie enjoyed fishing, driving fast cars, and spending time with his loved ones.  In his leisure time, he could be found watching westerns, a pastime that he enjoyed.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  sons, Keith (Tasha) Waldo of Denmark, South Carolina and Harvey (Simone) Bamberg of Branchville, South Carolina; daughter, Toni Robinson of Bamberg, South Carolina; nine grandchildren; one sister, Samella Bamberg of Bamberg, South Carolina;  two aunts,  Richardell Ramsey of Bamberg, South Carolina  and Debra (Charles) Stokes of  Denmark, South Carolina;  a special and devoted brother-in-law, Stanley (Jacqueline) Robinson of Bamberg, South Carolina; brother-in-law, Jackie (Melody) Robinson  of Greenville, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
