Samuel R. (Cue) Backmon son of the late Thomas and Louise Backmon, was born July 16, 1933 in Calhoun County, SC. He departed this life March 11, 2013 after a brief illness. during his early life he joined Mt. Zion AME Church in Creston, SC. He was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County, SC, and graduated from St. John High School in Cameron, SC in 1952. upon graduation he was drafted into the US Army for the Korean War, where he faithfully served his country with honor and pride. During his US Army service, Samuel acquired exceptional dental skills and was able to start and run his own business, "Cue Dental Lab" for over 60 years. Through his business travels, he gained tremendous respect and made friendships that would last a lifetime. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary W. Backmon. Samuel leaves to cherish his fond memories and sense of humor: his sisters, NaZalee Seawright of Charleston, SC, Cora Lee Haynes of Orlando, FL and Ruby Bradley of Queens, NY; his brothers, Thomas Backmon, Jr. (Almetta) of St. Albany, Ny and Cornelius Backmon of Orangeburg, SC; a special and dear friend, Ida Westberry of Vance, SC as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he cherished dearly.
