Theodocia McClellan Jennings, the oldest daughter of the late Lonnie Vermont McClellan, Sr, and the late Virnether Briggman McClellan was born September 27.1947 in Orangeburg County. She entered into eternal rest Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at her residence in the Canaan Community, Cope, South Carolina.

She was married to Richard Lee Jennings, Sr, on July16, 1983 and to their union two children were born.

Theodocia received her education from George Washington Carver High School (class of 1965), Allen University (class of 1969), and did further studies at South Carolina State College in Library Science. She retired as a 7th grade Language Arts/Reading teacher from Colleton County School District after 30 years of service. After retiring, she continued to work several jobs to include The Times and Democrat, an educator for a special early childhood readiness program at Edisto Primary School, Bamberg Job Corps and the Bamberg County Disability and Special Needs Board.

She joined Emanuel A.M.E Church, Cope, South Carolina at the age of 12, where she worked with several auxiliaries through the years until her health declined to include working as a church secretary, steward, on the finance committee, christian education director, class ;eader, Laymen, missionary, stewardess, junior/mass choirs and vacation bible school director. Theodocia also wrote the first version of the Emanuel A.M.E. church's history along with many Christmas plays.

Theodocia joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated -Alpha Omicron Zeta Chapter of Orangeburg, South Carolina on November 15,1991. She served as secretary for several years.

Those left to cherish her memories are: three sons, Reginald J. Jennings of Hartsville, South Carolina, Ryan J. Jennings (Belfast, Ireland) and Richard Jennings, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland; one daughter, Recina J. Garcia of Brooklyn, New York; four grandchildren; two sisters, Vernether V. McClellan of Marietta, Georgia and Gwendolyn (Sonny) M. Davis of Orangeburg, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; three aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
