Mr. Theodore "Ted" Caldwell's Obituary
Funeral services for the late Mr. Theodore Caldwell, Jr. will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Paul Baptist Church, Orangeburg, SC. Interment services will follow immediately at Belleville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Orangeburg, SC. Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon- 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Theodore Caldwell, Jr., (Ted) the oldest son of the late Mr. Theodore Caldwell, Sr. and Mrs. Aletha C. Henderson Caldwell, was born on February 26, 1943 in Calhoun County. He departed this life on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law of Orangeburg, SC after a brief illness.
He received his formal education from John Ford High School Saint Matthews, SC and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, Orangeburg, SC.
At an early age in life, Theodore joined Emancipation Missionary Baptist Church, St. Matthews, SC where he was very faithful until he decided to relocate to another church. He was most recently a member of Open Heart Fellowship, Columbia, SC where he led praise and worship services. His love, faithfulness and dedication to his church, which he loved with all his heart, led to his appointment as a deacon and later, a member of the Pastoral Board.
He was very active in the community where he saw himself as a servant to mankind. He spent much of his time visiting and caring for the sick and elderly. He never turned away any in need of his help or service. His sense of humor and jokes left everyone he came in contact with feeling uplifted and encouraged.
He was self-employed and the owner "Wash on Wheels" for more than 40 years where services were known by all to be rendered with pride and excellence.
He proudly served as a sergeant in the United States Army, received several medals of honor for his service and was honorably discharged after deciding to devote more time to his family and church.
He was preceded in death by his sister Brenda Caldwell and brother David Earl Caldwell.
Theodore was united in holy matrimony in 1968 to the love of his life, the late Helen "Marlene" Caldwell. To this union they were blessed with three handsome sons: Anthony (Amanda) Caldwell, Adrian (LaTashae ) Caldwell, both of Orangeburg, SC; Dexter (Monica) Caldwell of Greenville, SC; two precious daughters: Victoria (Hootan) Afzali of Irvine, CA and Tiffany (Donnell) Washington of Beaufort, SC.

He is also survived by seven brothers, John (Gloria) Caldwell, Kissimmee, Florida, Johnny (Dorothy) Caldwell, Central Islip, NY, George (Clara) Caldwell, James Caldwell, Moses Caldwell all of Orangeburg, SC, Nathan Caldwell of Columbia, SC, Sergeant First Class Titheben Stan (Christina) Caldwell, Frankfurt, Germany and Henry (Denise) Pinckney, Orangeburg, SC; two sisters, Evelyn (Willie) Brown, Orangeburg, SC and Albertha (Jimmie) Lloyd, Columbia, SC; a beloved sister-in-law, Shirley B. Caldwell, Orangeburg, SC; eleven precious grands, three adorable great-grands; one dear aunt, Mrs. Emma Dell Haynes Iwok, Orangeburg, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and a special confidante, Ms. Gloria R. Hutto of Orangeburg, SC.
