Mrs. Thomasina "Tom" Ottley's Obituary
Funeral services for the late Mrs. Thomasina Ottley will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Bamberg, SC. Interment services will follow immediately at Bamberg Memory Gardens, Bamberg, SC. Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 am- 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Thomasina "Tom" Ottley, daughter of the late Kelly and Pretto James, was born in Bamberg, South Carolina on November 24, 1941. She departed this life November 13, 2017 at her home.
Thomasina "Tom" Ottley, daughter of the late Kelly and Pretto James, was born in Bamberg, South Carolina on November 24, 1941. She departed this life November 13, 2017 at her home.
At an early age, she joined Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully until her health declined.
She served Mt. Carmel in the following capacities:
Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board, Choir Member, and United Methodist Women.
She was a 1958 graduate of Richard Carroll High School in Bamberg, South Carolina.
She was employed for many years by U.S. Enterprise Sewing Room, Thompson, Superior and Kirkland, and Superior Cleaners.
"Tom", as she was affectionately called, loved to talk and have fun and make you laugh at her jokes.
She also enjoyed writing poems.
She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Rosilyn Stephanie Ottley.
Thomasina leaves to cherish fond memories her husband Raymond Ottley of the home; two caring children: Sonia Ottley of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Christopher Ottley of the home; three grandchildren, Shawnteria Jackson, Sonyah Ottley, and Zariyah Powell all of Orangeburg, South Carolina; one great-grandson, Antonio (Ace) Felder, Jr. who she loved dearly; three devoted sisters, Evelyn Sellers, Helen Steedley, and Mildred Wiggins all of Bamberg, South Carolina; four sister-in-laws, Mary James and Hattie James both of Bamberg, South Carolina, Cherry Mae Broaster and Sonia Ottley both of Belize, West Indies.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and caring friends.
