Tina LaRae Haire, 41 of Chicago, Illinois departed this life on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Tina, the first born of Bernard and Vernell Haire, was born in Allendale, South Carolina on January 2, 1970. "Rae", as she was affectionately known, was a devoted daughter, sister and friend. Tina was raised in Orangeburg, SC and received her primary education at Felton Laboratory School on the campus of South Carolina State University. Tina received various awards and certificates for attendance and excellence in reading. She was a 1987 graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. During high school, she was involved in organizations such as Helen Sheffield Federated Girls Club, the 4-H Youth Development Organization, Winthrop College's Model UN 9, an active member of the Orangeburg School District Five Volunteer Program, Research in Science at Erskine College and the National Honor Society. She later went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, where she was inducted into the Golden Key National Honor Society, the Gamma Beta Phi Society and displayed the inner superstar she possessed as a member of a theatrical unit on campus. In 1998, she received her Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA. Being influenced by the Christian values instilled in her as a child, Tina began her work for the church at an early age. She publically demonstrated her devotion to God before the members and friends of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on June 14, 1987 at her baptism. Tina was a member and rendered her services as pianist for the Sunbeam Choir until she began college. She received awards for her service to the church from the Ward One Club. Tina also participated in the Young People's Christian Assembly serving as a representative for Mt. Pisgah at Benedict College in Columbia, SC. She later joined Temple AME Church, Marietta, GA where she participated in various initiatives of the church such as food drives and also served as an afterschool tutor to name a few. Tina gave of herself unselfishly through the years. She assisted in building houses in the Atlanta area for Habitat for Humanity. In 2004, she ran in the San Diego Musical Marathon, in remembrance of her cousin, Mrs. Lena Owens and in honor of her grand aunt, Mrs. Bernice Williams. Proceeds for this marathon benefitted the American Stroke Association. Tina's professional career though short was expansive and allowed her to travel the United States often. Her positions included a manager trainee program with Sears Corporation (Silver Spring, Maryland/Greenville, South Carolina), product management with Omni/Hartford (Atlanta, Georgia), Safeco Insurance (Denver, Colorado). Her current position was with Fireman's Fund Insurance (Chicago, Illinois). She thoroughly enjoyed her position and spoke fondly of her new supervisor and co-workers. Those left to cherish Tina's memories are: her father and mother; Bernard and Vernell Haire, her brother, Aaron Haire, her sister, Alicia Haire, of the home; uncles, Jessie Grant, Kenneth Williams (Sue), Shelly Grant, of Allendale, SC; aunts, Bessie Gillyard (Norman) of Allendale, SC, Flora Haire of Orangeburg, SC; grand aunt, Madeline Williams of Orangeburg, SC, a host of cousins and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Saturday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence of her parents, Bernard and Vernell Haire, 919 Oak Street, Orangeburg, SC and at the funeral home.
