Vanilla Moore Andrews was born on July 8,1939, in Magnolia, North Carolina to the parents of Katie Mae Glaspie Moore and Lawrence Moore. Vanilla was baptized in the Kenansville First Baptist Church where she continued to be an active member. She would leave home to attend and complete 4 years of college, as a Business Administration major at North Carolina A & T University in Greensboro, North Carolina. It was during her studies that she met and eventually married the love of her life, James A. Andrews, affectionately called, "Bud". Their beautiful union continued for 55 years until his death in June of 2018. It resulted in the birth of two daughters. Together, they created a family and built a life grounded in mutual respect and unwavering affection.

Vanilla leaves behind two daughters, Verlinda (Marc) Fields of Bridgeport, CT, and Lisa Andrews of Stamford, CT. Her daughters were not only the anchors of her heart but also the testament to her nurturing spirit and enduring strength. Through marriage to her daughter, Vanilla acquired a son in Marc who she loved dearly. Their lives and successes reflect the values and lessons instilled in them by their mother.

Her two grandchildren, Marc (Shakia) Fields Jr. of Bridgeport, CT and Taren Andrews of Stamford, CT, were the lights of her life. Vanilla delighted in their achievements and watched them grow with pride and joy. As they carry forward her legacy, she will always be remembered through their accomplishments and the love they show to others.

Vanilla was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Derric Andrews, Mason Fields, Jaxson Fields and Tessa Fields. These young souls brought renewed joy and vitality into her life, and she cherished the moments spent with them, imparting wisdom and love that will resonate through generations.

She leaves behind three siblings, a brother, Lorenzo Moore of Warsaw, NC and sisters, Laura Pugh of Fayetteville, NC, and Barbara Moore of Orangeburg, SC. Vanilla had a special bond with her siblings, rooted in childhood memories and lifelong companionship. The strength of their relationship was a source of comfort and unwavering support throughout Vanilla's life.

Vanilla's journey was marked by her kindness, resilience, dedication to her loved ones, and the stories she left behind. She will be remembered not only for her devotion to her family but also for the warmth and generosity she extended to all who knew her, including the community, and her friends. Her closest friends include Janice Deas, with whom she shared the same birthday and Rickey L. Dansby, who she affectionately referred to as a bonus 'son'. She will be missed and fondly remembered by all, including a host of other relatives, nieces, and nephews.
