Funeral services for the late Mrs. Vernice Barton will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 1:00 pm at St. Phillip Holiness Church located in Olar, South Carolina. Elder Daniel Heyward, Eldress Caroline Williams, Elder Clary Parker and Bishop James Cohens will officiate. Burial will follow immediately at the church cemetery. Viewing for the public will be held on today between the hours of 1:00- 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Barton, daughter of the late Grady and Corrie Dell Brabham, was born on December 26, 1944. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Mrs. Barton received her education in the public schools of Bamberg County and she attended nursing school in Philadelphia, PA. She was a faithful member of St. Phillip Holiness Church for the past five years. Mrs. Barton was married to Mr. Marshall Chambliss Sr. and was son was born to this union, Marshall Alvin Chambliss, Jr. Other than her son, she leaves to mourn: Mr. Ronald Ames; her daughter- in-law, Arlene Chambliss; one sister, Ruth (Joseph) Miller of Olar, SC; two brothers, Willie (Clara) Brabham of Savannah, GA and Russell (Julia) Brabham of Savannah, GA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three adopted sisters, Mary Haynes, Latonga Calhoun and Geraldine Lewis, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
