He was born on September 19, 1946 to the late Francis and Catherine Banks. Wesley was educated in the public schools of Bamberg County. Upon graduating, he served his country as a senior medic during the Vietnam War. He was awarded The Bronze Star Medal and The Army Commendation Medal for heroism. After returning home, he attended Denmark Technical College. For sixteen dedicated years, Wesley worked and retired as a heavy equipment operator for Bamberg County Public Works. At an early age, Wesley joined St. John Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a Deacon. In his latter years, he worshipped at Cornerstone Church in Bamberg, South Carolina. On October 12, 1969, Wesley was united in Holy Matrimony to the one true love of his life, Blanche Deloris Tyler. They were blessed with two wonderful daughters. Wesley is best known for his sincere love for his family. He will be remembered for the jokes he shared, prayers he lifted and the pride he had in his four grandchildren, but most importantly the eternal devotion that was shared between he and his best friend, his wife. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gary and Jack Banks. Precious memories of our beloved Wesley will forever be cherished by, his loving wife, Blanche Deloris Banks of the home; his daughters, Mahassen (Jerron) Cauthen and Shonta (Corey) Crosby; grandchildren, Corey Jacoby Crosby, Chanston Jakari Crosby, Cameryn Faith Cauthen and Eryn Camille Cauthen; two sisters, Frances (Jackie) Presley and Idella (Thaddeus) Johnson; three brothers, Jerry (Sandra) Banks, Bennie (Patricia) Banks and Eric (Ashia) Bryant; two sisters-in-law, Ethel R. Tyler and Nadine Tyler; one aunt, Mary Faith Pinkney; Akayla Frazier who was also loved as a grandchild; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon- 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence and at the funeral home.
