William was known as "Len" by immediate family members and "Peanut" by

many of his friends. He was born on September 23, 1951 in Orangeburg, the third son

of the late Thomas Caldwell, Sr. and Emma Lee Bodrick Caldwell. He was

preceded in death by his father, his son, William Caldwell, Jr., and his wife

Barbara Peeples Caldwell.

William was a graduate of the Wilkinson High School Class of 1969. After moving

to New York, he was employed by Bell Atlantic Telephone for several years. He

retired after thirty-one years of service as a Token Booth Clerk with the New York

City Mass Transit Authority.

Survivors include three daughters, Carmen (Fred) Chandler, Barbara Caldwell and

Supreme Caldwell of Brooklyn, New York; seven grandchildren, Trudy Chandler,

Jordan Caldwell, Charity Caldwell, Joshua Allen, Harmony Allen, Gary G.

Caldwell, Gabrielle Caldwell and Malakai I. Hill and one great grandchild,

Caspian Caldwell all of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Thomas (Dorothy) Caldwell,

Jr. of Orangeburg and Elder Theodore (Mary) Caldwell of Clinton, MD; two

sisters, Dr. Hallie (John, III) Caldwell Loiacono of St. Matthews, SC and Dr.

Emma Caldwell-Dykes of Orangeburg; two cousins reared in the home, Robert

Riley of Newark, NJ and Ernestine Riley of Brooklyn, NY; two nieces, Denise

Caldwell Smith of Spartanburg, SC and Jennifer White of Orangeburg; two

nephews, Matthew White of Greenbelt, MD and Marcus Caldwell of Stone

Mountain, GA and a host of many cousins and friends.

The family will greet fellow sympathizers at the memorial service.
