Funeral services for the late Mr. William James Heyward will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Dash's Funeral Home Chapel, Bamberg, South Carolina. Interment services will follow immediately at Bamberg Memory Gardens. Viewing for the public will be held on Wednesday from 1:00- 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. William James "Peanut" Heyward was born on October 17, 1966 in Charleston, South Carolina. He resided at the Midlands Center in Columbia, South Carolina from 1979 to 1992. Afterwards, he moved into Bamberg County Disabilities and Special Needs Board's residential program's Zeigler Street Community Residential Care Facility in 1992, where he resided with his housemates until his recent illness. He enjoyed visiting area community churches with his beloved housemates and caregivers. He had a happy spirit and showed love and concern to everyone he met. He was a huge Carolina Gamecock and Clemson Tiger fan, and he collected Gamecock memorabilia. He proudly wore both teams' colors. He enjoyed traveling, dining out, and dressing up to model for special events. Dancing was his favorite pastime. He attended Bamberg County Disabilities and Special Needs Board's Adult Day Program Activity Center. He was determined to be the teacher's helper and he enjoyed much success in meeting his training goals. He possessed a friendly personality, and he never met a stranger. He leaves to cherish his memories - his housemates of the the Zeigler Street Community Residential Care Facility, caregivers, and a host of community friends.
