Willie Edward Ferguson, Sr. was born November 5, 1943 in Barnwell County, South Carolina to the late Samuel B. Ferguson and Maybelle Husby Ferguson. He entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Willie was educated in Blackville Public School System. He retired from Allied Air as a certified welder after 37 years.

Early in life, Willie joined Shrub Branch Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina, where he served on the Trustee Board and the Pastor's Aide Committee.

Willie was a hard worker, a good provider, a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and working with his hands especially planting seeds and nurturing flowers. His skills of designing and planning his surroundings are quite evident when you look around his place of residence. Willie was a quiet man and an individual of many talents. His memory will continue to live in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.

Willie was joined in holy matrimony to Constance M. Dowling on September 8, 1990. This union was blessed with one daughter, Shayla Elaine. Shayla joined the loving and welcoming spirit of seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Constance; his stepmother, Mrs. Kayollie Ferguson; four sons, Willie Edward (Joyce) Ferguson, Jr., Darren Bernard Ferguson, Woodrow (Eartha) Hammond, and Curtis (Paula) Hammond; four daughters, Joe Ann (Jeffery) Kemp, Josie Mae (Mike) Robinson, Nadia Comaneci Wiggins, and Shayla Elaine Ferguson; five sisters, Sheila (Charlie) Broughton, Ann (Vincent Aiken) Ferguson, Lisa (Michael) Dunbar, Linda (Mathew) Jones, and Unisce Williams; four brothers, George (Evelyn) Ferguson, Ezzell (Bonnie) Ferguson, Dennis (Lenora) Ferguson, and Monroe (Shirley) Robinson; seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
