Young **Mrs. Smiley will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Mrs. Zella Mae M. Smiley was born December 1925 in Bowman, SC. She was the daughter of the late Mr. George and Mrs. Addie Sally Moorer. Zella attended the public schools of Orangeburg County and graduated from Wilkinson High School. She was united in holy matrimony to the late George Smiley in 1945 and this union was blessed with four children. At an early age, she joined Calvary United Methodist Church (now Edisto Fork United MethodistChurch). She later joined her husband at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Cordova, SC. Upon moving back to Orangeburg, she joined Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she was a member ofWard Two and served with the Mass Choir. Zella was a member of the Orangeburg AARP Chapter #2255 as well as a volunteer of the Orangeburg County Council on Aging. She was employed with Orangeburg Nursing Home where she retired as a nursing assistant. Zella leaves to cherish her fond memories: three sons, George (Katherine) Smiley of Olympia, WA, Greg Smiley and Eric Smiley both of Orangeburg, SC; one daughter, Margo Smiley of Spanaway, Washington;three sisters, Sylvia Williamson of Denver, CO, Alice Mintz and Surlena Frazier both of Orangeburg, SC; one brother, George Moorer of Bronx, NY; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Friday from 12:00 noon-8:00 pm at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence of her sister, Surlena Frazier, 757 Stanley Ave.,Orangeburg, SC and at the funeral home.
